Australian Digital Health Agency Releases "my health" App to Empower Users with Key Health Information

The Australian Digital Health Agency (ADHA) has announced the launch of its first consumer-focused mobile application, my health, as a response to the increasing consumer demand for easy access to key health information. The app, which is powered by My Health Record, has been developed with a user-friendly interface and offers a variety of features to help Australians take control of their health journey.

Consumer views of My Health Record skyrocketed by 292% in the last financial year, highlighting the importance of providing a more convenient platform for accessing health information. ADHA's new app, my health, brings crucial health data directly to the user's fingertips, streamlining their everyday health management. Among the app's features, users can quickly access their medication history, pathology results, vaccination records, allergy information, and hospital discharge summaries. Additionally, the app allows users to share documents and view records of authorized family members, including children under 14.

ADHA CEO Amanda Cattermole PSM emphasizes that a modern health system should empower consumers to actively participate in their healthcare by providing them with easy access to trusted health information through quality apps and devices. She notes that around 75% of interactions between the My Health Record system and users occurred on mobile devices, making the my health app a logical and necessary development.

The app was designed with a co-design approach, involving consumer users and medical professionals from diverse backgrounds, ensuring that it caters to the needs of all Australians. The development process included interviews, surveys, accessibility, and usability testing.

The my health app also places a strong emphasis on data protection and security, incorporating end-to-end encryption and robust data protection mechanisms. The app leverages the new Health API Gateway to seamlessly connect with the My Health Record platform and automatically download new health data onto the app's interface.

The my health app is now available for download on iOS and Android devices, providing Australians with a simplified way to access, store, and share their health information on-the-go.
